Reactivate your existing mobile subscription on a new phone

Summary
You can transfer your existing McAfee Mobile Security product subscription to a new smartphone or tablet device.
Solution
To update your McAfee Mobile Security account with the new phone information:
NOTE: After you transfer your McAfee Mobile Security subscription to your new device, the old device will no longer be protected.
  1. Download and install McAfee Mobile Security on your device. For download instructions, see TS101406.
  2. Open McAfee Mobile Security and activate using the Login option.
  3. Type your McAfee email address and password. 

    NOTE: Select Show Password to see the actual characters. 
     
  4. Click Continue.
  5. Select the available subscription you want to use.
  6. Click Continue.
  7. Type your phone number (optional).
  8. Type and verify your PIN for the existing McAfee Mobile Security account.
  9. Click Continue.
  10. Select Activate or Cancel on the Device Admin set up screen.
To update your McAfee Mobile Security account with the new tablet information, download and install McAfee Mobile Security with your existing account.
Related Information
If you purchased a used phone, you might receive the following error message:
This device was registered earlier with a different SIM.
To continue McAfee Mobile Security, please use that SIM.
If you no longer have that SIM please contact support

If you purchased a used tablet, you might receive the following error message:
This device was registered earlier with a different email address.
Please use that McAfee Security account to register this device.

This message means that McAfee Mobile Security was installed and activated on this device by the previous owner.
Contact the previous owner and obtain the following information:
  • Original User name (phone number for smartphone and email address for tablet)
  • The name of one of the previous owner's buddies
If you can't contact the previous owner to unlock the phone, contact Technical Support.

For a smartphone:
  • The IMEI number of the old device
  • The IMEI number of the new device
  • The registered phone number
For a tablet:
  • The IMEI number and Android ID of the old device
  • The IMEI number and Android ID of the new device
  • The registered email address
NOTE: Inform the support agent if you have installed the standalone McAfee Mobile Security. Handset changes are not allowed for Full unlimited account types.
